2816 Tooth, 20 D.P., Stainless Steel Ring Gear After cutting a 2816 tooth, 20 D.P., stainless steel ring gear used for a telescope encoder positioning drive, the question was, how do we inspect it? Very carefully, of course, and by using a modified Illinois Tool composite checker. The 140.825" diameter gear was cut on our vintage Maag SH-350/500 gear shaper, and its total composite variation measured a total of .0023" over one revolution. *See what else is New!*
