Just Installed: Large CNC Turning and Milling Center

The Gear Works is pleased to announce its latest acquisition and installation of world class machining technology: 72" Giddings and Lewis Vertical Turning & Milling Center. Now, large parts can be turned, milled, drilled, tapped, and inspected in one efficient set-up by utilizing multiple on-board machining functions, such as the 25 H.P. live milling spindle and 12 station tool changer.

G&L Turning/Milling center
A 75 H.P. table drive, a 66" independent 4-jaw chuck, and a robust rail head ram provide agressive turning capability.

Full-contour milling, slotting, drilling and tapping
Full-contour milling, slotting, drilling and tapping is accomplished with a 25 H.P. live milling spindle with ANSI #60 taper tools using a NumeriPath CNC control. C-axis rotary accuracy is +/- 5.0 arc seconds.

In-process inspection with the NumeriProbe
In-process inspection can be performed with the NumeriProbe System, which uses a Renishaw MP-3 electronic probe.
