NEW INSTALLATION: INCREASED GEAR GRINDING CAPACITY

The Gear Works is proud to announce another major improvement to its gear manufacturing capabilities with the commissioning of its new Hofler 2600 gear grinding machine. Now, external and internal gears up to 2600 mm in diameter can be precision form ground with the latest in gear grinding technology.

The Rapid II is the latest generation of gear grinding machines from Hofler Maschinenbau of Ettlingen, Germany. Our new Rapid 2600 is capable of tooth grinding gears up to 102" diameter and weighing up to 20 tons. Internal helical and spur gears with face widths to 19" can also be ground by means of the exchangeable attachment. An on-board gear inspection system can measure and evaluate gear accuracies utilizing the latest AGMA, DIN and ISO gear metrology standards. The 92,000 Lb. machine rests on a sunken foundation of 350 cubic yards of reinforced concrete. The base of the foundation is supported by 12 auger cast pilings sunk to a depth of 50 feet.
